Epic Games Holds Free Fortnite Cup

Epic Games is holding the Free Fortnite Cup on August 23, 2020. The tournament can be participated by all Fortnite players around the world. One thing that makes this tournament unique is that the Free Fortnite Cup was held as a form of Epic Games protest at Apple.

Two weeks ago, Apple and Google blocked Fortnite from the App Store and Play Store because Epic provided a purchase option for V-Bucks – the currency in Fortnite – which allows gamers to buy V-Bucks directly from Epic Games. That way, Epic doesn’t need to pay Apple a 30 percent discount. Epic does the same on Android too. This led to the blocking of Fortnite on the App Store and Play Store. Epic then took Apple and Google to court on monopoly charges.

In the Free Fortnite Cup, one of the prizes that Epic Games offers is the Tart Tycoon skin. To win this skin, a participant only needs to get 10 points. Players will get 10 points every time they succeed in winning and get a Victory Royale. Participants will also get one point every time they successfully eliminate another player. Not only that, players will get one point if they can survive three minutes. That way, we can be sure, almost all Free Fortnite Cup participants will get the Tart Tycoon skin.

It doesn’t stop there, Epic also offers Free Fortnite hats. On the black hat, there is a llama in the rainbow colors, which is identical to the Apple logo. The hat will be given to 20 thousand players with the most points in the Free Fortnite Cup.

Finally, Epic also offers prizes in the form of gaming devices, ranging from Android smartphones to gaming laptops. Epic provides 1,200 gaming devices for players who can eat the most apples in the game.

Here are the gaming devices that Epic has to offer:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S7
  • OnePlus 8
  • PlayStation 4 Pro
  • Xbox One X
  • Nintendo Switch
  • Alienware Gaming Laptop
  • Razer Gaming Laptop

In addition to teasing Apple, apparently, Epic is also holding a Free Fortnite Cup to win over gamers’ hearts. However, it is not known whether public opinion will be able to help Epic win their case in court against Apple and Google.
